Primary outcomes mechanism injury, presentation, timing repair, operative technique used. total 16 patients (63% male; median age 36 years; Injury Severity Score [ISS] 19.5) identified. total, 75% motor vehicle accident. 13 (81%) underwent repair. Eight received repair during emergency exploration undertaken for concurrent injuries. Three had delayed index admission, two an elective tissue performed seven patients. Mesh used six. Patients followed 55.5 days. One patient recurrence hernia following primary local series demonstrates that traumatic may be successfully repaired admission using or mesh techniques.

This patient was init ially thought to have a rectus sheath haematoma and in...

A Traumatic Abdominal Wall Hernia Repair: A Laparoscopic Approach

BACKGROUND Traumatic abdominal wall hernias from blunt trauma usually occur as a consequence of motor vehicle collisions where the force is tangential, sudden, and severe. Although rare, these hernias can go undetected due to preservation of the skin overlying the hernia defect. Open repairs can be challenging and unsuccessful due to avulsion of muscle directly from the iliac crest, with or wit...
